PERMANENT EXHIBITION

Ready for War

The permanent exhibition “Ready for War” complements “Preparing for War” by exploring the defensive strategy behind the construction of the fort.

Its central theme is alternate history, examining what might have happened if the Aroostook War had escalated into an armed conflict between the 2 armies.

The exhibition also explores the various British regiments stationed at the fort, through artifacts uncovered during excavations that attest to their presence.

Visitors are invited to analyze the defensive strategies put in place and to better understand Fort Ingall’s level of preparedness in the face of a potential American threat.
